History
- 1859 Abraham Brand born in Bergern, Holland. First of the Brand family to grow fruits, vegetables and flowers.
- 1885 Jan C. Brand born in Beemster, Holland. Second generation farmer and flower grower.
- 1908 Jan C. Brand pioneers the use of “Plat Glas” (flat glass), a predecessor to the modern greenhouse to protect his crops.
- 1911 Bram Brand born in Beemster, Holland. Third generation to carry the farming tradition.
- 1938 Jan R. Brand born in Beemster, Holland. He is the fourth generation to grow flowers.
- 1966 The tradition continues with the birth of Hans Brand. The fifth generation of flower growers.
- 1985 Brand family moves to the United States.
- 1986 B and H Flowers started in Nipomo, CA.
- 1987 B and H moves to bigger location in Carpinteria, CA to meet growing demands.
- 1988 Developed new box system for growing Oriental Lilies. This system was adopted around the world.
- 1993 Built computerized greenhouses and hydroponics installed for roses. Johnny Brand, sixth generation, born in Carpinteria, CA.
- 2000 B and H expands with the purchase of the Watsonville, CA, farm
- 2007 B and H becomes Veriflora Certified. B and H receives the prestigious Santa Barbara County Green Award.
